A Bit of a Disappointment
Date of Review: Mar 15, 2008
The Bottom Line: I guess it's fine if you really want to play it, but it's definately not the best of the ND series. My recommendation is probably more yes than no, however.
CAUTION! SOME SPOILERS!
I have played every ND computer game more than once, and I have enjoyed most of them. However, I feel this one slipped a little.
It started out with an excellent setting- Paris, the jewel of France. You travel there to work as, apparently, assistant to a couture designer named Minette. The mystery is that Minette has been throwing temper tantrums and is getting increasingly edgy lately, even for her. You go undercover to expose the truth about her mysterious behavior.
Along the way, you stumble upon another plot- one about Noisette Tornade, a French Resistance fighter that protected valuable stained glass art. Random! The two plots- Minette and Noisette- seem to have nothing related to each other, and you're right, except for the fact that Noisette's hiding place for her art is under Minette's studio. But you don't get to find that out until the end.
As for the puzzles...I found very few of them to be enjoyable. Others are just the same old stuff- sliding puzzles, food puzzles, matching puzzles, etc. But some are just off-the-wall hard! I have NEVER made it through those puzzles without having to cheat. They require extremely strange, unordinary, and frankly hard-to-come-by thought processes.
The graphics, music, and voice actors were all superb. I guess that's the high point.
