A Fresh Sound

Date of Review: Aug 2, 2008

The Bottom Line:  Rihanna has brought a fresh sound to the world of music. It ranges in almost every time of music genre.and I would definitely recommend it to everyone!
Rihanna has brought a new and fresh sound to the world of r&b and pop. Shes young and beautiful and on her way to being very successful in this business. At only 19, she managed to have the best producers and artists on her albums and is signed with one of the best record labels in the music industry. Good Girl Gone Bad is one of the hottest albums of the year with the last years hottest song of the summer. Her music has a mixture of hip-pop, r&b, pop, rock and caribbean (reggae). Most artists today play it safe with their music. They stick to one genre and it works for some and not so much for others. Rihanna is known for taking risks with her music. Shes worked with artists from Jay-z to Maroon Five. Some people have called her a younger version of Beyonce or Ashanti but I think she has her own new style and they should let her create her path to becoming a music legend instead of just comparing her to other artists. The song "Umbrella" was rumored to have been originally wrote for Mary J blige but I honestly cannot picture Mary singing this sing. It fits Rihanna perfectly. It has a young, fresh and spunky sound to it which, in my opinion, does not fit Mary's style at all. This should definitely be one of the cds in your playlist!
