Gorgeous Gas Hog
Pros:
Nice looking, well handling, smooth suv
Cons:
GAS HOG
The Bottom Line:
I would not recommend the Envoy to a friend. It is a very nice suv, but too pricey, and the fuel economy is poor.

Author's Review
My husband and I bought a new 2006 GMC Envoy XL Denali about a year ago. We went to several dealerships before deciding on the Envoy. We were sold by the ride, features, good looks, and projected fuel economy.
Since then we have had several minor problems. The rear air turns itself up and down on its own. For instance, when you have it set on high, it blows hard for a while, then doesn't for a while. It's very annoying.
Another problem is when you stop, occasionally, you feel a hard bump. It feels similar to being rear ended. It doesn't happen all the time, but fairly regularly. This problem has been heavily documented on trailvoy.com by several envoy and trailblazer owners.
Also, the rear hatch cover is leaking some kind of grease, right underneath the license plate housing. There are two large greasy streaks on my rear hatch.
The fuel economy is horrid. Our model came with DOD(displacement on demand). Basically, this means that the vehicle only uses 4 of its 8 cylinders when cruising. This feature should save fuel. If it saves fuel, I would hate to own one that didn't have it. I am averaging 14.5 mpg in town and 17.8 hwy.
Even with all of the quirks, my husband and I still like the Envoy. However, I would not recommend for the price.
