Product Review

Aggravating to say the least

by   tuffkustomer ,   Nov 15, 2008

Pros:  Works OK indoors, (as long as you use batteries).

Cons:  Unstable, clumsy receivers.  Very limited range.

The Bottom Line:  An extremely limited and clumsy system.  Look elsewhere.

Overall Rating: 1/5 stars

Author's Review

This was the second set of monitors from Fisher Price we tried.  Never again!

We live in a metropolitan area, and have never been able to use the AC power supplies for the receivers as they somehow pick up an amazing amount of interference.  We've had to use batteries, despite the added cost.  We switched to rechargeable batteries, but they last only two nights, compared to about double that for alkaline batteries.

Our experience has been that the system has a range of about fifty feet outside the house- much less than advertised.  Indoors the units perform satisfactorily, but from the second floor to the basement is the limit of their range.

The receiver units are tall and slim, with rigid antennas accounting for half of the total height.  This makes them unstable, and they fall over easily, usually when you're trying to be quiet!  Each receiver has a plastic belt clip, but these do not hold very securely.  Bending over while wearing the receivers will usually result in the unit falling off your belt.

The base station design is much better- short, wide, with a night light, and a fold-down antenna.

The battery compartments on the receivers have two small Phillips screws securing the covers.  The screws have stripped out, and we have to use rubber bands to keep them closed.
