This is a very colorful bouncer from the Fisher-Price Rainforest collection that offers seat vibration, and a detachable toy bar that makes sounds and lights up.
I put my newborn baby in this seat within the first month of her coming home, and she took to it right away. The vibration was essential in calming during her fussiest times.
WHY MY BABY LOVED IT -
Not only was the vibration soothing, but she loved the playbar. She loved to watch the imitation water fall at the top of the bar, and found it irresistible to knee (and eventually kick and grab) the hard plastic animals that hang down.
WHY I LOVED IT -
-The seat offered fine head support.
-I could easily clip additional plastic chain toys to the play bar, giving her added amusement.
-The security harness (which goes across the lap and between the legs) was easy to fasten/unfasten and adjust.
-The whole unit was lightweight and portable. Fits nicely in the car for roadtrips.
-The toy bar is easy to attach/detach, works like a charm.
There are just a few negatives I experienced - mostly being that this thing EATS batteries for breakfast. But since I keep rechargables on hand it was only a mild pain to unscrew the battery compartment and change them out.
Also, the toybar is a bit awkwardly placed. The platic toys essentially sit in the baby's lap. I was concerned at first that this didn't have much mobile effect, but soon found that my baby loved it exactly where it was! As she began to grab things she was delighted to have the animals right there in her lap to play with!
Another negative was that with a long baby her feet began hanging off the edge pretty quickly. But in retrospect that was a handy guide to warning me that she had outgrown her bouncer. This is not a long-term piece of baby equipment. You'll get maybe 4 months of use out of it (5 if you have a tiny baby).
Overall though, for all the latenight naps she took in this, and for the first smiles she gave me from this seat, I would recommend it to any mom.
