Oxford 4x6 Ruled Canary Index Cards Help You Organize as you hit Jackpot in Supplies!

Date of Review: Jul 11, 2003

The Bottom Line:  If you need a splash of color in your life as you organize things around your work or house, this is what you need to get.
I am going to just come right out and say this before I even get started I am a neat freak. Some of my doctors in the past have even gone as so far as to say that I have an Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Nevertheless, I like things organized in my home and nothing is ever left to the next day.

Originally I wanted some way to keep track of all these people I was dealing with for my disability issues so I bought some index cards to go with my SMEAD Alphabetized Index Cards 4 x 6 and I bought the color Canary. I actually purchased all of the colors but my favorite is the Canary.

I wanted to have all the places I was calling on file and who I spoke with and so on. Yes, maybe a little over the edge, but I figured by obtaining different colors I could come up with a system that would work and I have. I love these Index Cards!

Oxford who makes all the index cards that you see floating around everywhere in the office and sometimes out of the office is actually owned by the manufacturing company called Esselte. Esselte actually distributes over 30,000 different products for the office in over 120 countries. It isn't all about my Oxford Index Cards, but I can't blame them either.

Oxford Index Cards come in:
3 x 5
4 x 6
5 x 8

Colors:
White Ruled
White Unruled
Green
Cherry
Violet
Blue
Canary

Oxford has this index thing down. There isn't a lot to say about an index card. The Canary one that I purchased was 4 x 6 in a nice yellow color that wasn't too bright but would still bring your attention. It was easy to read on the Canary Color as well and didn't hurt my eyes. The Ruled Lines are college ruled I believe allowing you to write as much as you need to while the other side is left plain. A 100 cards of 4 x 6 Canary Index Cards come in a pack as well as with all the other colors. You can also get a multi-colored pack as well.

See how far you can take these Index Cards? You could organize your whole life in a little box full of index cards. Okay, maybe nor your whole life, but it could easily organize your recipes, phone numbers, addresses and everything else that people find the Oxford Index Cards useful for.

I am an office supply fanatic. I like having the best of the best and this is one piece that I feel is the best. I don't even know of any other company that makes index cards except for Oxford. Oxford has that part of the market probably cornered and no one has dared to test the perfection that they have already developed. The Oxford Index Cards are sturdy enough that they feel solid and not cheap. They will stand the test of time.

To throw more into the pot of confusion Esselte is owned by a private company called J.W. Childs Associates, a leading producer of supplies that are 1.1 billion in annual sales and employs 6,500 people all over the world. It is a global company that focuses strictly on filing, labeling, and the workplace with brands such as Pendaflex, Leitz, Esselte, and Dymo.

I have never heard anyone complain about the index card unless they messed it up and had to re-do one. The Oxford Index Card are a staple when it comes to the necessities of an office or a at-home office like mine.

Who am I kidding? I am just a bored neat freak that finds all sorts of things to do when it comes to office supplies. I almost purchased a notebook for $10.50 the other day because it had a heavier sheet than most notebooks, but my fiance kind of drew the line on me. This is how out of control my office supply disease can get. If my fiance doesn't keep an eye on it, I could spend hours in one of those stores and go nuts if I had the money!

If you want to organize your recipes or itemize other stuff in your life, I believe that the Oxford Index Card in the pleasant color of Canary will not let you down in any way. You will become as addicted as I am and want the whole set as I had to have. You will find all sorts of reasons to use these well-built index cards and know that they won't fade or change over time. I used to put mine through my printer until my printer broke so that I could just type everything on them. There are so many uses I wouldn't even know where to begin. However what I am positive about is you will love the Oxford Canary Yellow Index Cards in 4 x 6, the perfect size for all and only costs $1.99 per pack!

Until next time,
K Parsons
