Pros: High-quality finished products.
Cons: Suffering through the near-monopoly on ink cartridges.
The Bottom Line: Despite high-quality printing, shop around for something more up-to-date. Buy this if nothing else meets your needs.

Review: Epson Stylus Photo R300 Ink-Jet Printer
I just read the only other review of this printer and was disappointed by it. The writer recommends avoiding this printer. While my experience hasn't driven me so far as to recommend... |

Pros: memory card reader, prints cds/dvds, high quality photo printing, cheaper than comparable HP
Cons: heavy ink usage, small cartridges, cd/dvd loader loads improperly
The Bottom Line: I would recommend this printer for the casual photo printer for the pros of the printer outweigh the cons.

Review: Initially I bought this printer over the comparable HP version because of the price. The printer has some short comings but overall I've been happy with the purchase.

Pros: Prints nice color labels on CDs and DVDs.
Cons: Doesn't do much of anything without major user interaction.
The Bottom Line: I cannot recommend this printer, especially if you are thinking of buying it for the CD printing function. This printer is a headache to use.

Review: I've had the displeasure of owning three of these and they all had the same problems. I bought the printer for one purpose and only one purpose, to print on CDs and DVDs. Each and every one of them had suffered from the same problems, they cannot do...

Pros: Perfect output, uses ink up according to USER'S settings (paper type, etc), extremely reliable.
Cons: Slow on the final draft. An 8X10 with optimal settings can take a whole minute.
The Bottom Line: Don't toss it when it finally needs servicing after half a million pages - it's a workhorse with excellent output. Remembers where you were if something does go wrong.

Review: I've had my R300 for years + I'm paying almost $150 parts+labor to have the rolling paper-grabber replaced because it's the first and only problem I've had and it still prints beautifully (when it takes the paper). I've probably printed 400,000...

Pros: Low cost, bulk ink compatible, beautiful photos, will print cd's, media-card reader, borderless photo.
Cons: Occasionally hangs, heavy paper feed problems, slow cd printing, wastes a lot of ink.
The Bottom Line: An excellent low cost ink-tolerant printer for photos, cd's and everyday use. Not recommended for 'card-stock'.

Review: I bought the refurbished printer online several months ago at a very low price ($60 delivered). The low price was due to there being no ink cartridges included. I had researched several printers and this Epson series will eventually have a near-cult...

Pros: Nice output for (super-expensive) photos
Cons: Ink must cost its weight in gold/diamonds
This reviewer does not recommend this product.
Review: It's very difficult to like Epson or its printer, even though it does a great job on pictures. The R300 guzzles so much ink, which is very expensive (almost as much as a cancer drug). Also, the settings are strange--even though I keep printing past...

Pros: Text print quality is good.
Cons: Useless for printing on CDs. Photo print quality is poor.

Review: I bought this printer specifically for printing on CDs and DVDs. That was a big mistake. I paid over $200 for a substandard quality printer that only occasionally will actually print on a CD.

Pros: great to print on CDs and DVDs
Cons: expensive ink -- but be careful about generic replacements
The Bottom Line: after a year with this printer, I'm hoping that the authorized Epson service gets it working again!
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: The R300 is one of the Stylus line with the added feature that it prints directly on "inkjet printable" CDs and DVDs. It does this through the use of a special "feeder tray" which is inserted into a manual flap which folks out of the front, so that...
