The Bottom Line: Nice unit for basic image printing. Ink is expensive and needs frequent replacement
I bought this printer mainly for the CD label printing. I was into making DVDs and was tired of using the stick on labels. I bought the R380 on sale and have loved it since. Image prints are sharp and always look good. The CD printing was exactly what I wanted. As for printing text, I would not recommend this printer. For B/W documents, I would recommend buying a cheap laser. The other problem with this printer is the ink. It dosn't take long to go through the little tanks of ink and Epson does not give you a deal on replacement ink (although it is slightly cheaper than for my 1400). I have found a cheaper source on eBay so it keeps some cost reasonable. I don't mess around with the card reader since most of my printing comes from inside Photoshop. If you go this route, the LCD is nice and sharp. This would be a nice feature if you were not using your computer for editing/organizing your pictures. If you do print from Photoshop, make sure your settings are for Photoshop to handle colors and turn off Epson's color management...otherwise you will be wondering why your screen colors are so much different than the prints! I learned that one the hard way!
Setup is a breeze and the unit is user-friendly.
