Victoria's Secret made this angel smell Heavenly!

I am not a big fan of feminine, floral perfumes. I prefer light, fresh, citrus scents. But Victoria's Secret was offering a special gift with the purchase of their Dream Angels Heavenly fragrance line and I purchased Victoria Secret Dream Angels Heavenly 4.2 oz EDP Spray. My mother in law had mentioned long ago that she liked Victoria's Secret fragrances and I decided to give her this perfume for Christmas.

Sorry, Mom Therre, I am keeping it!

About the Scent

From Victoria's Secret:

America's #1 Fragrance. Our soft, creamy, smooth blend of white peony and white musk. Domestic.

That line up sound exactly like stuff I hate and perfume my mother in law wears that makes me sneeze. I guess you can't judge a perfume by its top and middle notes!

The Packaging

This perfume comes in a clear glass bottle with a pearlescent white glass girly pull off top and a gold swirly rim at the top of the bottle. The bottle is curved - It's slightly top heavy with the bottom being smaller than the top. It very simply says "dream angels - heavenly" (in all lower case letters) on the bottle along with the Victoria's Secret name on the bottom of the bottle in very small all cap letters. The bottle is pretty but not super fancy and easy to grip. The perfume itself is crystal clear.

My Experience

When I received the perfume, I also got a suede-like bag with several sample sizes of other Victoria's Secret products inside. I intended to keep the bag and wrap the perfume and store it until Christmas. I did keep the bag but I wanted to try the perfume just once. I remembered that I had used this scent years ago on occasion but couldn't remember what the scent smelled like.

I pulled off the cap and sprayed a small amount. Wow. This is NOT the body mist which is about half the cost of the perfume. This is a very concentrated perfume that will last for a very long time, given the tiny amount needed and how long it lasts on my skin.

The scent, how do I describe the scent?

When I first applied it, I thought it had a slight powdery scent but that disappeared in moments. What I was left with was the sexiest scent I have smelled in a long time. While this is a floral perfume, it is nothing like what I perceive floral to smell like. It has a fresh, sexy, alluring scent that blends the floral with a musky scent with a fresh scent with something very sexy all combined to make a very, very feminine perfume that is anything but "old lady" or even "older lady". This scent is one that I can picture the models in the Vic's catalogs spritzing on before a photo shoot or a black tie affair.

At the same time, the scent dresses down with jeans and boots to subtly tell the world you are all woman no matter what you are wearing.

I like Amazing Grace by Philosophy and Light Blue by Dolce and Gabbana but both are short acting. I have to reapply Amazing Grace every hour to keep the scent fresh and Light Blue is so light to start with that it is a barely there scent - and then gone in a short time. I still love both but Heavenly has definitely secured a place in my heart and on my pulse points.

I spray a little on my wrists and then touch my wrists to my neck area. Sometimes, I will spray a little bit on my lower back. Yes, I know that sounds crazy but I believe a woman should smell nice everywhere, not just on her wrists and neck. Spraying a little perfume on the lower body seems to make the fragrance last longer and be more uniform. It envelops me and I like that.

The first time I used this perfume, I only used a tiny amount since, after all, it was a gift. I immediately loved the scent but wondered how I would feel about it three hours. Well, three hours later, I was still smelling it and still loving it. I felt like I was walking around in a slinky, sexy strapless dress rather a pair of skinny jeans, sandals, and a baby T. The scent makes me feel feminine even when I am not dressed girly.

And it lasts! Because this is the stronger perfume and not the mist, it really has lasting power and remains on my skin for hours. I got a little .25 ounce sample bottle with my bag of goodies and I carry that with me in my purse but have yet to feel the need to actually use it. One application is enough for all day or all night.

I apply this perfume about 15 to 20 minutes before I leave the house. This allows the scent to settle down and mix with my skin chemistry. The slight powder scent disappears almost immediately and the stronger floral notes tone down allowing whatever the fresh, feminine, sweet stuff is to emerge. In about 20 minutes, the scent is set and will stay true for hours.

For not liking floral scents or particularly feminine scents and for favoring citrus scents like lemon, lime, and orange, I sure did a 180 with Heavenly.

If you like Philosophy's Pure Grace fragrance, imagine that with a sweet musky, slightly floral scent added with lasting power and you have Dream Angels Heavenly Perfume.

Clean, fresh, feminine, sexy, alluring, and versatile. That is what this perfume is. Now I remember why I liked it years ago!

Other Dream Angel Heavenly Products

You can layer other Heavenly products or use the lighter ones rather than the stronger perfume if you wish. The line includes: Heavenly Wash, Heavenly Angel Touch Lotion, Heavenly Mist, Heavenly Velvet Luxe Lotion, Heavenly Body Crème, Heavenly Bath Pearls, Roll-on Trio, and Body Powder.

I have since ordered a trio of Wash, Lotion, and Mist for my mother in law and I sure hope I don't end up keeping these as well. Ahh, who am I kidding? She'll get a sweater again this year!

Buying Info

I paid $59.00 for this perfume but I had a bunch of coupon codes and discounts so it really came to less than that. They also sell this perfume in 2.5 ounce, 1 ounce, and one half ounce sizes. Victoria's Secret, both the brick and mortar stores and the website, carry the full line of the Dream Angels Heavenly scented products but this perfume also is sold on many major perfume and fragrance websites. The price varies from site to site. I just saw it selling for $39.50 on a perfume site. Ouch! However, as I said, I had coupon codes and discounts so it made sense for me to buy this scent at Victoria's Secret. I would suggest you comparison shop if you want this fragrance and buy it where it is cheapest but make sure you are getting the authentic perfume, not a knock off or the mist.

Conclusion

I really like the scent of this sultry yet versatile perfume. It is appropriate or all ages and for both casual and formal wear. It is heady but not cloying and doesn't cause me to sneeze or react the way I usually do when I wear perfumes as opposed to lighter splashes and mists.

I have received a number of compliments already when wearing this perfume. Men and women seem to appreciate its subtle fragrance. One older woman said I smelled "pretty" while my doctor said I should leave a bottle of the perfume in his waiting room for his female patients to use before they enter his office. I told him to spend a little of the millions he has stashed away and buy his office staff some Dream Angels Heavenly Perfume for Christmas. I said it as a joke but he had me write down the name of the perfume so he could do just that!

This perfume isn't ultra expensive nor ultra sophisticated which is probably why I like it so much. It is not one of those perfumes you buy then save for special occasions. You can wear this anytime, anywhere and smell, well, heavenly.

I really like the scent, the length of time it wears on my skin, and the compliments I receive when I wear this perfume.

I have to give it 5 stars and question myself as to why I stopped using it years ago. Maybe it was a different formula then or maybe I just was inundated with other fragrances. But now that I have it again, I plan to keep it around to use whenever I want.

I recommend this perfume to any woman, old or young, casual or formal. There is a reason why it is America's #1 fragrance!
