The Chemicals Breakthrough
Pros:
awesome beats, an incredible jewel of a song with Beth Orton, and great depth of listening
Cons:
songs run into each other, it can give you a headache, and for some reason it doesn't retain all its merit when listened-to in the presence of others

Author's Review
Dig Your Own Hole is an excellent album in nearly every regard- not just for people into electronica, but for any music listener. I bought the album for "Block Rockin' Beats." Initially, I was turned off by the other tracks. They seemed noisy, repetitive, and over-long. If you too have had this reaction, I urge you to continue listening.
House, trance, big beat, or just about every other type of electronica is the study of build up and release, and the Chemicals are masters of the form. If you're in the right mind-set when you listen to their music, it's a revelation. Incidentally, this album is one of the best ever for putting in your cd-rom while you play quake or any other high-intensity computer game.
If you like this album, I recommend buying their first album, "Exit Planet Dust," as well, followed by their most recent effort, "Surrender."
