Cuisinart GG2 Sandwich Maker

I love to cook and anything that makes things easier for me is greatly appreciated. This grill/griddle is greatly appreciated.

We love our weekend bacon and egg breakfasts. The griddle makes cooking up these big breakfasts really easy. The large surface area means that I can cook up a large batch of bacon at once and when the bacon is done, I wipe the griddle down with a paper towel and cook the eggs. It also makes awesome pancakes!!

I have not used the grill as often as the griddle because I find it to be a bit of a pain to clean up. Getting between the ridges can be difficult even with their scraping tool, especially when you're dealing with stuck on food...like spices from a steak. I also don't understand why the scraper they supply is not heat-proof. At least that's what's written on the side of the the scraper. Yet the easiest way to scrape off the grill is when it's hot. I've cooked hamburgers on the grill and it really splatters badly, so I stick mainly to my George Foreman grill for hamburgers. But it works well for steaks and for some fish like Salmon.

It can take about 10 minutes to heat up to full temperature, depending on your setting, but once it's heated, it maintains the temp pretty well. I do find that the grill and griddle are a little cooler around the drain holes and a little hotter near the control knob. But it's not enough to make a huge difference.

The drip pan can be a little larger...especially wider...I've had grease drip into the base and dribble onto my counter. A bit messy.

Cleaning up is easy with this machine since everything except for the removable control knob is washable. I've never put it in the dishwasher though. The griddle is easier to clean up than the grill. Of course, you do have to be careful with the non stick surface.

I agree with another reviewer here who says that the power cord is too short...it is. It could be a few inches longer.

Overall I really like this grill/griddle and use it A LOT.
