Author's Review
I can't really say enough good things about my 1999 Chevy Prizm. I bought it nearly a year ago and have not had a single problem with it yet (only at 7000 miles, but still...). As a full-time, commuting college student, all I needed was an affordable (to buy and maintain!) car to get me from school and back everyday, point A to point B. Nothing fancy, no frills were necessary.
I had test driven 2 other cars when looking for this one: a Chevy Cavalier and a Saturn SL. While the other 2 were alright, there was something about them that didn't make it feel natural. But the second i pulled the Prizm out of the lot for a test drive, I felt at home in the driver's seat.
My vehicle has A/C, power windows and locks, cruise control, AM/FM radio with cassette, and a lot of other convenient perks. While not all are available on the base model, they can be requested and in my opinion are well worth a little extra money.
The only minor problems I have with my Prizm are just that: minor problems. The seats can be a little uncomfortable on drives more than a few hours (but isn't that true with any car?!), it can be a little cramped for tall people (it is a compact car after all).
The car has a great drive. It handles beautifully, is able to take tight turns at high speeds (not that I recommend that) without feeling like it is about to go up on 2 wheels, and the suspension is nice and smooth for such a little car. And have I mentioned the stereo system?!...
