Author's Review
I purchased this machine for home use. User and professional reviews convinced me to look at the MP210. there are loads of inexpensive printers out there, but the reviews tended to bash them as being shills for selling expensive ink cartridges. Not so for the MP210.
My old scanner seized up and I was looking for a replacement. My scanning /copying needs are rather mundane, so I'm satisfied with the basics. I could also use another printer, so I figured that the MP210 was reasonable candidate; cheaper than stand - alone scanners with integrated printing. Nice deal.
I am using this with both a Vista and an XP laptop. Set-up couldn't have been easier, the CD software loaded without a flaw. Both computers auto-detected the printer quickly. The quick start guide walked me through the steps well.
I am printing mostly Word and Excel documents, occasionally web pages or random stuff. The Canon Fine printing looks close to laser quality, and documents print quickly. B/W copies are very good as well.
The MP210 has a pleasant "bread-box" shape and relatively small footprint. The black / off-white shiny surface is a nice change from putty bland. Like most printers, you must supply / buy your own USB cable.
If you are looking for an affordable, low-volume all-in one, this is definitely worth considering.
Caveat, I don't print photos and I'm not a big graphics person, so I'm not pretending to address these areas. My opinion on this topic is: you need to invest serious money to get consistently high-quality graphics and photos
