Product Review

30 D is awesome if you learn how to use and get the right lenses!

by   hollycgate ,   Jul 5, 2008

Pros:  Good value for the money, not as complicated as older cameras, good looking, and quiet!

Cons:  Lens cost a lot, but you get what you pay for!

The Bottom Line:  Camera is easy to use, flash is strong, and battery life is excellent! Great quality for the price!

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

I love this camera. You do have to learn how to use it which means take pictures until you just can't take anymore! But that is true of any camera. You have to learn your controls! I had a Minolta Maxxum 7D until I upgraded to this one. The lens cost a lot more for Canon cameras, but they are worth it! I did find that the Sigma 70-200 f2.8 is a great lens to buy if you can not afford the Canon! I love it! You have to have good lenses though if you want to truly enjoy this camera. For the money though, this camera is great. If you want to take pictures professionally, it is also awesome! I've seen pictures I've done with this camera that were better quality than pictures taken by photographers that had $10,000 cameras! It's all in knowing how to use it and having the right lens. Some people complain that an action shot or low light shot is not the quality that they wanted. Usually that is because of the lens and settings! Also, this camera has an awesome flash! Very seldom do I have to use an external flash! Sometimes I even have to lower my flash because it is super strong. That is one of the features that drew me to this camera. I was tired of having low light shots turn out horrible! Once I got the camera, I still had some blurry low light shots, but soon found that it was due to my lens and not having the right settings. Play with the settings. Go out and use every type of lighting you can and learn what setting to use for each one. If you are indoors, definitely get the settings right, so that you don't have that fake lighting look. I still learn each time I use it. Don't give up and think the camera is bad if you get some bad pictures. It is usally human error that is behind bad pictures! Also, the battery for this camera is incredible. I shot a wedding one time and took around 400 pictures using flash and still had battery life left! I get a lot of compliments on just the look of the camera.
