Don't buy it!
Date of Review: Dec 2, 2007
The Bottom Line: Unless you have a thinner baby, don't get...not meant for chunky infants.
I bought the Bumbo at Babies R Us when my son was starting to gain good head control, thinking that this would be good to strengthen his head, neck and back muscles. The folks at Babies R Us recommended this at the time, so I thought I would take their advice and purchase it. After all, it looked like the babies were cute and comfy in it!
My son was quite chunky and for the first few times that I had him in the Bumbo it was very cute and I did take many photos. Although after a few days, he started looking very smooshed and uncomfortable. His legs were very thick and just barely fit in the leg openings.
Not to mention that it doesn't seem very safe. If someone else, another child, or a dog, gave a good push...I could see the baby tumbling over! So keep an eagle eye out if he is sitting on the table or on a counter!
One good note, is that it's easy to travel with. You can just throw it in the back seat if you are going to visit family.
It seems cute to see your little guy or gal sitting up on their own...but my suggestion is to save your $$ and purchase something else. Baby bouncers, swings work better for the babies that are chunky!!
