My boppy was a dream come true...and for things OTHER than nursing!

A boppy was one of the things I didn't get at my baby shower, and one of my "last minute" purchases before our daughter arrived. I wasn't sure if I really needed it or not, but Boppy pillows and all the possible covers that you can use on them are just too cute...how could you NOT want one? :)

Anyway, fast forward to once my daughter had arrived...I'll admit that I never found the Boppy to be of fabulous assistance in breastfeeding. I just always felt that I could hold and position my baby much more comfortably with only my arms. Also, I had a hard time fitting the Boppy into certain chairs with me and baby, such as our recliner and our glider...the armrests just make that difficult. But I will say that it WAS nice to have a way to nurse hands free while I was typing on the computer or reading a book in bed. My Boppy certainly served a purpose there.

However, I found two different uses for the Boppy that totally made my postpartum life easier!! First, it was a MIRACLE product when it came to me needing a comfortable sitting place for the first couple weeks after giving birth. It's perfectly shaped to provide a cushioned place to sit without adding a lot of painful pressure. And unlike "doughnut" pillows, considering that the Boppy doesn't connect at one end, it makes it somewhat adjustable.

The second thing that we loved our Boppy for was (and still is, even though she's 2!) laying my daughter in. She's always been a higher needs baby and has never slept very heavily or for very long periods unless she's in our arms. Strangely enough, we could lay her in the Boppy once she was asleep and adjust it to where it sort of mimicked our arms being around her. Incredibly, this seemed to help her sleep better and longer at times.

So, while we didn't get the most traditional use out of our Boppy pillow, I am SO glad we had it (and still have it for the next one!). This is one product I wouldn't mind having more than one of in our home!
