Pros: A frightening glimpse of the future
Cons: Not many people realize Brave New World is upon us
The Bottom Line: Huxley's Brave New World is written about modern day America in a very indirect, yet correct way.
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: While Huxley may have been predicting a far more dramatic Brave New World in his book, consider for a moment the aspects of BNW that are upon us now.
In Brave New World, life is not created by sexual reproduction of two loving adults, but... |

Pros: Fascinating tour of an all-too plausible future society
Cons: Poorly drawn love story, lots of thin characters.
The Bottom Line: Read this book if you enjoy sardonic tear-downs of consumer society. Read quickly over the Bronte-esque interludes.
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: This book springs from one problem with large industrialized societies.
There is a need in such a society for a very large number of persons to perform manual, menial or service jobs. There is a need for relatively few persons to perform... |

Pros: Very ahead of its time, thought envoking
Cons: Slow, boring, complicated
The Bottom Line: I know it's supposed to be an importatnt book, but that really doesn't mean that is a good one. I found it very hard to follow and fairly boring.

Review: I had to read Brave New World for a literature class this summer. The teacher told us that it was a wideley studied story so I was excited to get to start reading it. From the first page on I hated the book. It doesn't flow through like...

Pros: Good book.
Cons: Big words, hard to understand, and starts slow.

Review: This book by, Aldous Huxley, is very slow starting out, but tends to get better as it goes along. I do not reccommed this book to many people except people who are interested in the future or are use to using big words. This book was very slow...

Cons: Underdeveloped characters

Review: In the book Brave New World, the concept of marriage and family no longer exists, in fact the terms are considered to be pornographic. Everyone is genetically cloned and their lifestyle is determined for them before they're even born. No one has any...

Pros: Great imagery, very insightful
Cons: None; I love this book!

Review: With its vivid description of everyday activities such as the "feelie" movies and classification of every human into one of five letter and color groups, Huxley's Brave New World is a fun read for young adults and teens.

Review: The role of science fiction, for better or for worse, is to get us to imagine the possibilities that lie in store for humanity s future. Indeed, many scientific discoveries and applications have become realities only after being the product of the...
