Author's Review
This is one of the few toys that we have had that truly adjusts and grows with a baby. We've tried several other things with previous kids and have found that they just don't function well at different stages or they wear out quickly. This little toy he's been playing with since he was just a few months old.
At it's lowest setting, they lay on their back and it sits over them angled slightly downward. Right from the start he loved this. It has a little green lever that when they hit it with their foot, the must starts and lights illuminate. This is a great idea! Once he can reach it, he can spin the reflective wheel, shake the orange ball (it rattles) and spin the striped wheel.
At the middle stage, the baby sits in front of it and it faces him. The lever is now activated with his hands. The lights are also buttons that when pushed, light up and play a brief song. He's also now able to move the 'click' wheel.
At the tallest stage the baby uses it to stand against, before (or after) walking and it's angled slightly upward. He can reach everything, and now can put the orange ball into the hole. When he gets the ball through, it plays music. It can slide a bit when they're first standing, so it needs a brace.
Battery life has been fantastic. The music only plays briefly - as not to drive anyone nuts. It's really easy to move it between stages. So when the baby is sort of between stages, you can swap it from sitting to standing in about 1 minute. It's also a great size - so many of his other toys are so giant that this is a welcome change. It's easy to move, handle, and store.
This is an affordable price for most everyone - especially considering that he'll use it for quite a while. It's also a perfect price range for a registry item, so put it on your list.
