Encapsulates World War II

I had played Axis and Allies the board game over a decade ago. Although I enjoyed it, it was a bit tiring with all of the dice counting, etc. As soon as Axis and Allies came out for the PC I was one of the first buyers. I enjoyed the game but it was buggy. Axis and Allies Iron Blitz came out about a year and a half after the original. The pretext was that it would have multiple scenarios (which it did). The truth is that the original Axis and Allies was way too buggy.

Now with the negatives already stated let me tell you this. I've been playing computer games for twenty years now. Simply, Axis and Allies Iron Blitz is the finest game I've ever played. Computer or otherwise. While the graphics are good, you won't find cinematic eye candy. This is still basically a board game with the computer doing the number crunching and presenting a pleasing display.

The glory of this game lies with its inventor. He had such a keen observance on World War II that he made it possible to win playing either side. Iron Blitz also offers multiple scenarios, including Cold War. This is a frightening look at a NATO v. WARSAW PACT armageddon vintage 1955.

Despite the genius of this product, I still understand why it has mixed reviews. This is not a shoot 'em up arcade game. This game demands a love of history, geography, politics and ideology. Succinctly, it is the game for me.
