Putt Putt Pep's Birthday Surprise

Putt Putt Pep's Birthday Surprise is a really cute computer game for children. My oldest daughter Christina bought this game at Toys R Us in the 90% off area for $2.00, what a deal.

This computer game is recommended for children aged three through six, and is called an Interactive Learning Adventure. My younger children are seven, five, and two and they all enjoy Putt-Putt and his cute little puppy Pep. My two year old does not play the game, she just loves to watch her older siblings play.

What exactly happens in Putt Putt Pep's Birthday Surprise?

Putt-Putt is a cute little purple car that happens to own an adorable little puppy named Pep. It is Pep's birthday and Putt-Putt wants to throw him a nice surprise birthday party. But in order to have a party, supplies must be gathered.

Putt-Putt has to drive around Cartown stopping at 28 various locations to pick up what is needed. At some stops Putt-Putt must drop off an item that he picked up at another location before he can receive the next item. For instance; Putt-Putt picks apples at a farm, then takes the apples to the market. At the market the grocer gives Putt-Putt an extra bunch of carrots for the apples. Putt-Putt then takes the carrots to the fire station where the magicians hat is. All of the rabbits have escaped from the magicians hat, so the carrots are needed to lure the rabbits back inside. At the fire station you must play a game. There are several rabbits hopping around inside the station being chased by two puppies. You must get the rabbits away from the puppies and into the magicians hat using the carrots to guide them with. After you get the rabbits back into the hat you pick up the hat and drive to the magicians store. When you give the magician his hat back he returns the fire fighter hat that he has to the fire station. You then get a confirmation letter from the magician saying that he will attend your party. This confirmation is one of the items you must get before you can have Pep's party.

Getting each one of these items requires several steps similar to the ones I explained above. Your child must drive Putt-Putt all over Cartown, playing games, finding items on the side of the road, picking things up and dropping things off. It is quite a bit of fun and each time my children play they enjoy it as much as they did the first time.

This game encourages your child to think, to remember, to be organized. They learn to remember where they need to return to, and where they need to go next. This game helps your child to look at the big picture, to follow directions. You cannot get the balloons until you can give the balloon man some string. You cannot get your string until you find five rubber bands and give them to the car character with the world's largest ball of string.

A nice feature that Putt Putt Pep's Birthday Surprise offers, is the ability to save your game. Since it does take a while to gather everything needed for the party, there have been occasions when we have had to stop the game and finish it later. With the save feature your child can pick up right where they left off.

This game also offers the option to print a picture of the birthday cake that your child decorates for Pep. My children have done this a couple of times. The only issue I have with this feature is that it will use up a lot of your colored ink, especially if your child has decorated the cake the way my children do!!


While this is not some super, high-tech computer game, it is one that has brought many hours of fun to our home.
