It's Arthur's Computer Adventure

Arthur's Computer Adventure is a Living Books program starring none other than ‘Arthur’ of PBS acclaim. In this Living Book, Arthur is desires to play a new computer game, but he is told that he cannot play because Mom needs to use the computer. Mom gets called into work and once she leaves, Arthur and Buster, one of Arthur’s buddies, sit down at the computer and attempt playing the game only to run into terrible trouble when the computer crashes and they cannot fix it.

As is with most Living Books or interactive books there is a passage to be read and activities to explore with the mouse on each page. The player can click on the different objects and things to discover silly graphics and animations that often will take them to another activity. The design of these Books helps the user develop an interest for reading. Many skills are used in the Living Books such as:

· Comprehension skills
· Counting skills
· Visual skills such as matching words with pictures

Arthur's Computer Adventure is appealing to children because of the popularity of the PBS show. Many children though may find the program lacking in ‘game’ appeal. The most appealing portion of the program is the ‘scuba diver treasure hunt, a water balloon game and a mix and match fish game.

This program will work directly from the CD on Macs with no installation necessary and the program is self-explanatory. The program will run on 2x drives but will be very slow between screens. System requirements for the PC are:
