A Great Small Device To Have

Last year for Christmas I received the iPod Mini from my brother. I had mention to my brother that I was going to buy myself the iPod, because I was tired of hauling my CD player around. Not only the CD player, but also the CD case with all my music. When he gave me the iPod I was so excited one of my dreams had come true, and I did not have to spend a dime. The iPod Mini at that time cost around $199 or more.

The iPod Mini design is very attractive. The color is silver and the player exterior is made of aluminum. It is virtually scratch and dirt resistant, which helps the iPod obtain its great look. The product weighs 3.6 ounces, which is tiny. You really can& believe how small it is until you see it. You can barely feel the weight while it is inside your pocket. The iPod Mini is a sturdy piece of equipment. I have not dropped mine yet, but it seems to be well put together.

The iPod Mini features a four-gigabyte hard drive, which can hold up to a thousand of songs from your CD or digital music collection, for listening on the go. When connected to a computer, it can also be used as an external drive, as you can upload files from one computer to another. You can arrange your music in on the go play lists, and change equalizer settings to make music sound better. Another cool option is you can store and synchronize contact, calendar, and To-Do list information from your computer, and play games.

The iPod Mini comes with USB 2.0 and firewall cables. You can use which ever one you want, to transfer songs between your iPod and computer and the transfer is very fast. You can also charge the iPod via the USB cable or connect the AC plug to the power adapter. You need to connect the iPod Dock Connector to the Firewall cable to the power adapter, and plug the other end of the cable into the iPod Mini. The iPod Mini also comes with a white belt clip, which snaps onto the unit easily and is very secure. The ear piece included works fairly good, but sometimes tend to slip off my ears. It is also very hard to get the covers back on the pieces. The iPod Mini has great sound coming through the ear piece when they are on properly.

The iPod Mini comes in several different colors including gold, silver, blue, green and pink. The iPod shape is very smooth and elegant. The back of the unit features the Apple logo, while the sides contain no jacks or ports. The front of the screen is where the LCD screen and the Click–Wheel are located. The display screen is extremely sharp and when a song is playing the artist and title of the song displayed in black letters.

The contrast is adjustable. However, the touch pad is very sensitive and the screen scratches easily. The iPod has a circular pad that allows you to control the functions of it. On the bottom, there is a play/pause button, on the left and right there is the rewind and fast-forward buttons, and on the top there is the menu button. To adjust the volume or scroll through the play list, just move your finger around the circle clockwise to bring the volume up or down. To select a song play list, or turn on the iPod, simply press the button in the middle of the iPod. If you are carrying the iPod mini in your pocket and you don not want to press the buttons or turn it on accidentally, you can make the buttons inactive by setting the Hold switch to Hold. You need to slid the switch toward the center (so you can see the orange stripe) to disable the control.

The software is included with the iTunes, which is compatible with windows. iTunes is one of the few ways to get songs on the iPod. The software is very easy to use and transferring songs is so simple. Creating a play list is also very easy. You can buy songs for $.99, or can be uploaded onto iTunes, and from there the songs can be transferred onto the iPod. Play list are also transferred from iTunes onto the iPod.

The iPod comes with special features. If you have stored a lot of songs on the iPod, you can select a feature which allows you to browse by, artist, album, or song. The setting bar allows you to change the language on the screen, the date and time, and it also allows you to set the shuffle or repeat songs. You can also rate a song you listened to on a scale of one to five. Tell me how cool is that, I think this machine is great, I would not trade it for anything. I can travel without the hassle of the CD player, the iPod makes traveling and exercising fun, because I can listen to my favorite music.

Really the only issue that I have found with the iPod is the ear-plug that it comes with. I have no complaints about anything else. I solved my problem with the ear-plug, I spent thirty two dollars and purchased me a pair of Sony ear- plugs that work perfect and the sounds is great.

Overall, the Apple iPod Mini is a very cool portable device. It is packed with outstanding features. If you have extra money to spend I would definitely recommend this top of the line device to anyone that is looking for something interesting and fun. The iPod Mini also comes with a one year warranty, which mine is no longer valid, but I have not had any issues with my iPod Mini and it still works today.
