worked great until it broke :(

This item worked great. I liked the sound... the capabilities and everything - great product!
I moved it from my house to my dormitory and it is now a charger.
All it does is charge my ipod - the clock does not show, the lights do not come on the songs will not play - it charges.
I called the company and they said if I send it in, they will replace it but I didn't bother because I got it on sale and I didn't want to spend the money shipping.
UPDATE
So I voided my warrantee and unscrewed the entire thing and opened it up to see what was wrong. (Mostly because I'm getting a new one for Christmas) The problem is that the wires going from the speaker to the circuit board it is connected to were flimsy and were not securely connected - I fixed the entire thing and everything was working fine until I promptly snapped the speaker wires all together. They were just that flimsy! For this to be fixed they need to either completely replace the wires or find a better way to fix and secure them to the circuit board.
