Product Review

So far, so good.

by   nyd101 ,   Apr 19, 2004

Pros:  Two in one! Not expensive, either.

Cons:  Tiny buttons on remote, loud on the VCR side.

The Bottom Line:  It's practical for a money-saving consumer that wants to have the best of both machines.

Overall Rating: 3/5 stars

Author's Review

This DVD/VCR combo is a dream come true for me, I needed both in my living room and this unit takes up the same amount of space the VCR I used to have took up, give or take half an inch. The wiring part was a little tricky. I still can't manage to record from the television using the VCR. I'm sure that's my fault.

It comes with a remote that feels lighter than others because there are button batteries and not the usual AA or AAA, which I like.
The remote has much to be figured out, it's small and has small type over its small buttons. If you have large fingers, you may accidentally press two buttons at once with this one.

The color on my DVD's is great, better than my last one and it was a sony. The mechanism inside the VCR is loud, it sounds like the tape is being slapped around inside, there are clicking noises and shifting plastic sounds when you pop a tape in. It's very easy to watch a DVD or tape. The input and TV/VCR buttons switch from television to movie, once you are correctly connected.

When you pause a DVD, there will be a little blur, especially if there is movement on the screen. The instruction manual wasn't too helpful when I was wiring to connect it. I had to figure out that it needed to be turned off, press TV/VCR and set the channel to channel 3 on the television.

Considering the price I paid and where I bought it, I don't expect miracles from the machine. It does what it's supposed to do. So far, I'm satisfied.
