Animal Rights Now

As a real follow up to the amazing '95 release Everything is Wrong (yes, there have been many releases in between but no full length new material albums) Animal Rights takes Moby into new territory.

Those of you seeking a sequel to Everything....will be disappointed. Those of you eager to find out whatever this genius does will be surprised. Those of you who pay attention will be very pleased.

Moby begins with an intro not unlike Hymn from Everything and then gets down and dirty to hit the punk guitar rock with both fists. Moby does punk better than punks.

The highlight for me was his That's When I Reach For my Revolver....I saw Moby perform this live at Minneapolis' First Avenue and the entire performance in support of Animal Rights was one of the most impressive shows I've ever seen.

As usual, Moby fills his liner notes with his opinions and comments. He looks to the Constitution and Bill of Rights to speak of his desire to protect individuality especially freedom of speech....although he does seem to pick and choose which of the Bill of Rights are wroth retaining he is none-the-less a strong minded thinker worthy of paying attention to. His tirade railing against the Christian Coalition is quite amusing.
