Burnt American Pie!
Date of Review: Jan 18, 2000
I watched this movie for the first (and the last) time last evening. I was very disappointed with the outcome. Not only was the plot very predictable, but the characters lacked the Pizaz needed for this type of movie. Basically it's an inferior "Booty Call" (which is much much funnier).
I spent a good deal too much time, anticipating the funny scenes that would have me laughing hysterically, as I did with Something About Mary and Booty Call. But the laughs just weren't here to be found. Don't get me wrong, I do think that this movie covered the aspect of exactly how effort and thought much teenagers put into that, but I feel that this movie did NOT represent the young today as the intelligent Americans that they truly are. If the average parent caught his boy doing the apple pie, they would have him in for counseling to say the very least.
I cannot in all honesty, recommend this film to any Genre with a good conscience. Avoid this film, rent something about Mary, or Booty Call again, and you'll actually be able to say..now that's original, funny, and worth the 3 bucks spent.
