Author's Review
I thought that Alias looked interesting from the very beginning. The problem was that I missed a lot of episodes and I never knew exactly when it was on. A lot of stuff happens in Alias and if you miss a lot of episodes, you'll most likely get lost. That is why I'm so grateful for this DVD. I got to see everything that I missed. I could not stop watching this show. The cliffhangers are so good that you'd get to the end of the episode and almost always have to watch the next one just to see what happened.
The Plot
Sydney Bristow (played by Jennifer Garner) seems to be a normal student. She has a boyfriend, goes to school, and has a job at Credit Dauphine. Or does she? Sydney Bristow is actually a secret agent for what she believes is a covert branch of the CIA, called SD-6. SD-6 is headed by Arvin Sloane (Ron Rifkin). After her boyfriend proposes to her, she decides to tell him her big secret. He decides that he needs time to think. He also decides to let her know that it's ok by leaving her a message on her answering machine. I'm sure that everyone out there knows what that means. Yes, they heard and decided to take him out. Sydney comes home from a mission to find her fiance dead in the tub. Shortly after this her father that she barely knows, Jack Bristow (played by Victor Garber), lets her in on a big secret. He does not export plane parts as she had thought, but he is in fact also a member of SD-6 and for an ever bigger shock, that SD-6 is not a covert branch of the CIA but in fact the enemy. She had been working for the very people that she thought she was fighting. She becomes a double agent, along with her father. She uses the information that she gets from SD-6 to help the CIA bring it down. Each episode we see Sydney work to bring down SD-6. Her contact to the CIA is Michael Vaughn (played by Michael Vartan). Their is some wonderful sexual tension between them all throughout the season. How could you have a normal life with all of this stuff going on? Well, the truth is that other than her amazingly peculiar situation with her work, she has a pretty normal life. She has two best friends; Will Tippin (Bradley Cooper) and Francie Calfo (Merrin Dungey). She also attends grad school. She also has friends at SD-6; fellow agent Marcus Dixon (Carl Lumbly) and head of op tech Marshall Flinkman (Kevin Weisman). I guarantee that every episode will leave you wanting more.
The Cast
Alias has an excellent cast. Garner does a wonderful job as Sydney. She is good at changing personalities with all of her Alias'. She is also very good with all of her own mood changes. Rifkin does an excellent job at being the bad guy. He looks like a big mouse and I've always found myself hating him despite his layers. Garber is perfect as Jack Bristow. His character changes all the time. You can never really tell if he's good or not. You can see the pain that he has experienced just by looking at him. He is such a wonderful actor. Vartan is wonderful. I'm sure that every woman in the world that watches Alias is in love with him (as I am). Tippin and Dungey do a good job. Lumbly is also a great actor. Weisman is absolutely hilarious and the most lovable character. I love him.

Overall
I love this show. I rented the DVD's from the store before realizing that I needed the DVD's for my own. So, I took the plunge and bought the DVD. It was worth the $45. Since then, I have shared this DVD with a number of people and they all agree that it is one of the most addicting shows on television right now.
Alias always leaves me hanging. It has action, suspense, wonderful characters that you either love or hate and a brilliant story line. Alias is such an addicting show that after watching the first season you won't be able to stop. You'll have to know what is going to happen.
