Why Do Good Things Come To An End?

by   jei_aguinaldo ,   Dec 5, 2007

Pros:  It's a Honda/Acura, Reliable, Dependable, Smoothe, Excellent Styling, Comfortable, Plenty of Torque!

Cons:  They stopped making these after 2006 =(

The Bottom Line:  Saying that this car is the best car ever would be an understatement.

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

Author's Review

My first Acura I ever bought was my 2003 Acura RSX Base (Not Type-S). Previously, I have been an avid Honda fan and I decided that it was time I try Honda's upper-end vehicles, an Acura. What brought me to the Acura RSX was it's sleek and stylish design, ergonomical interior, and the fact it was indeed a Honda.

Many people ask why I didn't get an Acura RSX Type-S and my answer is simple, "i'm just lucky to have this Acura RSX considering what I paid for it." It started out like this, I bought a 1999 Jeep Cherokee for $5,000. The engine blew, so I had to drop $2,000 into putting a new engine in the Jeep. Basically just realizing the fact that my engine didn't even live up to 91,000 miles, I decided why bother keeping the jeep regardless of the fact that it has a newly rebuilt engine. Immediately, I put an ad on craigslist saying that I would like to trade my Jeep for something more "fuel efficient". Luckily for me, God answered my prayers and a lady e-mailed me offering her 2002 Honda Civic LX Coupe with only 66,000 miles on it and clean title. In my head I wondered, why? My Jeep is only worth $5,000 and her 2002 honda Civic is newer, had fewer miles, and was worth at the time, $13,000, which was nearly double what my Jeep was worth. So, we met up and ended up trading and noone believed me that I traded "straight up" for the 2002 Honda Civic. I loved the Civic and it was a beautiful car, however, I wanted something more sportier so I saw a local dealership advertise a 2003 Acura RSX Base for $11,000. I went in there and asked them if they would take my 2002 Honda Civic in for trade and they told me only if I added about $3,000. It was christmas time and I wrote the owner of the dealership a letter saying that I would be ecstatic, blessed, etc. if they would just consider trading my Civic straight up for their RSX. About 24 hours later, I get a call saying that the owner took my offer and BOOM! I'm driving a 2003 Acura RSX, truely a blessing from God.

Now, sorry for the long story but I just had to share. The Acura RSX base is very torqie, especially for a 4 cylinder and has plenty of power. The first moment I floored the gas pedal, I felt the power, all 160ish horse power of the K20 engine. I was indeed a happy camper with this vehicle and I still am after 15,000 miles of use. The seats are very sporty and remind of Recaro SRD seats. The rear seats are more comfortable than an Acura Integra. The dash is different from previous Honda/Acura vehicles i've been in because the texture appears to be more rugged and textured, and when i'm in the drivers seat I feel like i'm in an airplane cockpit as the dash and control panel are angled to face the driver. Everything is just beautiful and well-put together.

This car is so comfortable that it took me a while to realize there was no arm rest. I'm a pretty big guy (6'4" and 245 pounds) so I usually need an arm rest with my big frame. However, with the Acura RSX, it hasn't been a problem.

The sound system is above average and sounds excellent enough for me not to replace any components with an aftermarket product. The sound is just right and has minimal distortion when cranked up to its loudest.

What impresses me most is the fuel efficiency. For a full tank, that consists of 50/50 highway and city driving, I average about 330 miles for every 11 gallons I put in. When I travel all highway miles, I usually get about 375-400 miles per full tank. Keep in mind, when I say "full tank" it means 11 gallons at the pump.

I drive the RSX about 60 miles a day and the car is literally the best car i've ever driven. I am very happy with this car and thank God for blessing me with it. It's kinda funny because prior to getting this RSX, i've endured many bad things and I wondered why bad things kept happening to me when I feel that I was a good person and didn't deserve any of it. However, I kept my ground throughout it all and just being able to have a car like this is just nothing but a blessing to my life. I recommend this car to anyone and everyone looking for a compact vehicle because it is beautifully designed inside and out, it is one power ful 4-cylinder vehicle, it is reliable, and Honda wouldn't put it's name on this car without justification.
