Author's Review
I recently updated my computer system and feel that Ive finally entered the 21st Century. There is nothing more frustrating than running an outdated system that is no longer compatible with all the new products coming out onto the market.
Also, the fact that I still had dial-up internet access only added to that frustration. My Compaq served me well, right along with Windows 98, but there comes a time when we need to move on.
Then when I started to get published with online publishers things started to get tricky for me. For one thing when published with these folks most everything is accomplished via online, one being chat meetings or chat events between readers and authors.
How frustrating for me that I could not get into these chat rooms because my system was too slow or not able to connect. Thats when I decided to update the whole shebang, i.e. the computer and internet service. I now have a HP Pavillion Media TV PC and a HP LaserJet 4 Color Printer.
As with all life changing events, we still need to draw from the past as we move into the future.
My Compaq has quite a few files and I wanted to gradually move some of those files to the new computer but not all of them. One possibility was to use a flash drive except when trying to connect this to the Compaq it would not work. I tried downloading the software and nothing happened rendering a flash drive essentially useless.
The Compaq is connected to an older model Ricoh laser printer, which is a great printer for large jobs such as printing out manuscripts. I also wanted a new color laser printer for promotion material and keeping this older one as a backup.
This meant for a while before getting the new printer, documents typed on the new computer system I would then have to transfer to the old system in order to print them out. Luckily Windows XP documents could still be printed through Windows 98.
(Confused?) So was I until I got the Dynex External USB Floppy Disk Drive.
This drive allows me to copy stuff easily enough from the new system and then use it with the old system.
Set up was easy. I even surprised myself. The External USB Floppy Disk Drive Drive is USB powered. No AC adapter is needed. You just plug and play, which is the best thing since power steering.
This unit supports: Windows ME, 2000, XP and Mac OS x 10.1 and higher.
The package includes: The floppy drive, USB Cable, User manual, CD Software
Technical Specifications:
Reads and writes high density 3.5 floppy disks
Self powered via USB
Size: 4 WxD 7 Hx6D
Weight: 10 oz

It has a manual eject button, a floppy insert slot, LED indicator light, durable ABC plastic body and a 14 USB Cord. (I couldve used a longer cord considering the length from my computer to the top of my desk.)

I went to this site and noticed the price for this product at $56. I bought mine at BEST BUYS, and paid around $25.00.
