Did you say I've won a shiney red sportster or slimey raw oysters?

This was a replacement for a Panasonic KX-TM100b which after 3 years began to develop periodic failures. As I tend to try new products rather than buy the same products again I picked up the AT+T unit. The features are as expected - time and day, remote access, ample space for messages, memo, repeat, skip, and the choice of listening to the message as it is recorded or a silent option. Sounds like everything most of us would want and at a good price. Right? The problem I encountered is inconsistent playback. Too often parts of the messages left are difficult, or impossible, to understand. This is true of businesses and telemarketers who most likely are using land lines so I can't dismiss the problem as a result of cell phones with poor signal strengths. Besides cell phones always have a slight hiss that makes them easy to identify. I'm very interested in hearing from others using this product. Possibly I have a unit with flaws which can happen with any manufacturer - especially in today's world of electronics which are built and priced to be replaced rather than repaired and usually require replacement within 5 years. However, based on my experience with the unit I purchased I would have to recommend buying something else-unless you don't mind risking not being able to make out potentially life altering messages. Also - you'll need to be able to find you owners manual down the road as set up is not difficult but certainly not intuitive. Without instructions you'll be spending 20 minutes trying to find which buttons to use and in which sequence to program the unit after power outages
