Pros: Lots of features.
Cons: Sub-par sound quality.
The Bottom Line: Nice set of features make this answering machine look good on paper, but sub-par recording quality is still a big issue.

Review: The AT&T 1722 is one of the latest stand-alone telephone answering machines to be added to the AT&T consumer telephone roster. It appears to be aimed at people who don't get many messages and have no need for multiple mailboxes.

Pros: Small footprint, plenty of volume, good set of features
Cons: Good features don't mean much if you can't make out the messages. No battery back-up
The Bottom Line: Keep your receipt. If your unit plays back messages with no more clarity than mine you will be returning it.

Review: This was a replacement for a Panasonic KX-TM100b which after 3 years began to develop periodic failures. As I tend to try new products rather than buy the same products again I picked up the AT+T unit. The features are as expected - time and day,...

Pros: Cheap
Cons: Unreliable
This reviewer does not recommend this product.
Review: My replacement for my first AT&T 1722 answering machine just failed in exactly the same way the first one did; it no longer records messages. I don't know how long it has been since it stopped recording as so far no one has asked me about lost...

Pros: Low price
Cons: Unintelligible sound
This reviewer does not recommend this product.
Review: Was very cheap, and you get what you pay for. I don't know if it's the speaker or the sampling rate or something else, but the sound quality is just awful. I bought this for my office but tossed it because I couldn't understand what my customers...

Pros: Number announce feature
Cons: Sound quality is poor
This reviewer does not recommend this product.
Review: The sound quality of this answering machine is very poor. Most messages sound like the person had a towel over the phone. Also, there are frequent "dropouts". That is, spaces during a message that are totally silent. Imagine you're watching TV, and...

Pros: Low Price, stated features
Cons: It became unreliable after 22 months of fair service
This reviewer does not recommend this product.
Review: It did fair quality service for 22 months, then it became unreliable. It would answer (and record) non-existent calls and not reliably record all actual calls, after its initial fair performance for 22 months.
