The Bottom Line: Get it if you like intense MP mayhem
Halo 2
This is the type of game that any age gamer with many different skill levels can learn and enjoy. After playing through the original game countless times on the three levels I had to be a part of the continuing storyline and multiplayer goodness. I was online for the Midnight release and eagerly rushed home to play through the game.
The addition of being able to play as both the Master Chief and his nemesis in an overlapping and expanding story line was a fun addition, but in hind-site I feel that the original game won many hearts because of the lead character. Playing through the solo campaign was fun but I almost felt like I was cheated at the end of this story arc. It ended on a note that resonates and you sit there waiting for it to continue and it doesn t. We gamers so hoped for a download (version 2.5) that would allow us to truly complete this arc of the Halo story. Oh well, in the meantime I moved on to multiplayer goodness.
All I can say was that the first two weeks were glorious. This is one of the best first person (science fiction) shooters out there. It is also the worst. Until Bungie allows people to truly host their own rooms there will be no stopping the glitchers i.e. cheaters. No matter what updates Bungie tries to release the glitchers find new ways to make the game fail. If we could truly host the room we would have the option of creating private rooms and boot the cheaters.
Because of the rampant cheating I decided to sell this title after a few weeks. To this day I have the original Halo and do not get tired of it. I hope that the designers take these points into consideration while working on the third iteration of this series.
