The Sidekick II uses the same general design as its predecessor, with a number of evolutionary changes. The basic smartphone body measures 130 x 66 x 22 mm, 25% smaller than its predecessor, but weighs a bit more at 184 grams. It includes a 160 x 240 16-bit color TFT display in front which flips out of the way to reveal a QWERTY thumbboard. The display now cants slightly forward for a better viewing angle as well.

Pros: Fabulous AOL Instant Messenger in a wireless platform; Amazing web browsing at great speeds
Cons: Sadly few games of lousy quality; no music; no JavaScript support
The Bottom Line: Marketed for the teens to twenty-somethings it's perfect at what it's designed to do but it could be improved in several areas.

Pros: Web browsing easy and effective; only decent wireless Internet plan in the industry
Cons: T-Mobile coverage spotty; use a little awkward as a cellphone
The Bottom Line: Good (albeit imperfect) Internet access combined with a nicely thought out PDA means a killer device for Internet fans.

My Trusty Sidekick

Cons: Bulky, phone isn't easy to use while driving
