The SMO-F551 features a high-performance RISC CPU and 4 MBytes of cache memory, which are enhanced with Sony's proprietary "S-Cache" data algorithm. Higher capacity and faster transfer rate strike the needs of data backup, archival and storage. ??5.2 GBytes capacity has been achieved with leading edge technologies such as narrower track pitch and increased linear recording density which result from Mark Edge recording, PRML technology and 685nm lasers. MO systems are the perfect solution for professionals in fields such as DTP, medical Industry, AV editing, and telecommunications. Sony MO drives offer an MTBF of 300, 000 POH, and the disks offer 50 years of archival life with 10 million record/playback cycles.
