OK unit, but mine was DEFECTIVE

The Bottom Line: Not a bad unit, except mine was DEFECTIVE, made in China, DO NOT BUY SONY if it's made in CHINA. Would like to record on DVD-RAM. Is Panasonic better?

Old VHS Tapes to New DVDs in a Snap!

The Bottom Line: If you need to convert VHS tapes to DVDs and you want it easy and don't care about adding menus & chapters and such, I recommend this unit!
Review: I got this unit free, using points I had accumulated on a credit card I had. I had a whole library of live performances on VHS that I have wanted to transfer to DVD for quite some time now.

Sony VXD 655: Good product but....

Review: After a few hours over two months of CD play, tracking errors began: about 10 minutes into a cut. Moving back and for the did not help, nor did cleaning. DVD disc reproduction not affected by this problem. It'll have to go back for warranty repairs...
