A good starter machine for garment construction and mending, this sewing machine from Brother includes 25 built-in stitches. These range from zigzag to shell tuck to blind hem settings, and there's also an automatic four-step buttonhole function. In addition, a twin needle setting lets you sew a double line with two colors of thread for a smart decorative touch. The machine's design and features are straightforward and user-friendly, with some settings--stitch length and width-- automatically set for simplified operation. It also sews in reverse and has dial-adjusted tension for tidy work. Sophisticated home tailors will find this machine too basic, but occasional and beginning sewers should get plenty of use from it and not much frustration.

Cons: Hard to understand directions, glitches in parts, not very versatile
The Bottom Line: This machine is too confusing for beginners and not versatile enough for experienced sewers. I recommend you pass.

Pros: Easy to operate. Easy to clean. Easy to oil. Easy to thread.
Cons:

You have to take the storage comaparment off to change the Bobbin

The Bottom Line: I think this is a great sewing machine for who are wanting to learn how to sew with a machine.

Pros: Lots of goodies, great for the price, easily set up and used
Cons: The bobbin case continuously caught and tangled the thread mid-stitch
The Bottom Line: I recommend this to intermediate sewers, or novices who aren't easily discouraged. Advanced sewers would bore quickly of this simple machine.
