Product Description

Biographer and historian recounts the lives and adventures of a single World War II infantry unit, the "Easy Company" of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment. E-Company saw more than its share of action: they parachuted behind enemy lines at the Battle of Normandy and Operation Market Garden, fought at the Battle of the Bulge, discovered concentration camps, and were among the soldiers to capture Hitler's Eagle's Nest. The book is filled with vivid narrative detail, and also includes interviews with the veterans of E-Company, adding a distinctly human flavor to the rich military history. Ambrose's book was later adapted into an award-winning television mini-series produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks.

Band of Brothers: " We in it shall be remembered, we band of brothers…"

Date of Review:  Dec 31, 2001
The Bottom Line: Fair, judicious, and yet warmly sympathetic to its subject... as good a book about war and the courageous men who fought it as one is likely to find anywhere.
Review: In the late summer of 2001, before the terrorist attacks of September 11th turned every American?s world upside-down (gosh, that seems like an eternity ago now!!) a ten-week mini-series began on the Home Box Office (HBO) cable network. That...

A vivid, personal account of warfare

Date of Review:  Mar 23, 2003
The Bottom Line: This is a must-read for any reader of World War II books. It's a valuable look at how warfare affects the men who fight.
Review: Band of Brothers, by Stephen Ambrose, is the story of E (Easy) Company of the 101st Airborne Division in World War II. It's a very personal account, as Ambrose conducted numerous interviews with the surviving members of the company and uses those...

EASY COMPANY - BOYS AT WAR

Date of Review:  Jun 23, 2001
The Bottom Line: To get to know just what World War II was all about, read Stephen Ambrose book about the Band of Brothers. War is Hell and this books shows that.
Review: This book is another book for my husband?s collection of World War II books. We both enjoy Stephen Ambrose writings and this book we were anxious to own. BAND OF BROTHERS E Company, 506th Regiment, and 101st Airborne from Normandy to Hitler?s...
