If you value your sanity don't EVER, EVER use eToys or Bill Me Later(or eToy's shipping partner DHL). I'm still in the midst of a 6 month ordeal that neither company seems to want to fix.
It all started simple enough, my mother tried to order my son a birthday gift. The order processed just fine and shipped. That's where the nightmare began. The $100 ride on got to within 60 miles of my house when DHL "lost it in their system" and shipped it back to etoys. After an entire week on the phone with 6 different etoys reps I finally found one who was willing to contact Bill Me Later to remove the charge from my mother's account. Mind you the first 6 people told me there was nothing they could do, I needed to call Bill Me Later myself(who hung up on me..on purpose...a guy yelled and hung up), and it was a DHL problem, not an etoys problem.
FINALLY...one etoys customer service rep was smart enough to have Bill Me Later cancel the bill. All was right with the world and I and my mother were no longer seeing red.
BUT WAIT...there's more. Etoys only cancelled the charge for the toy, not the screwed up shipping which caused the entire mess in the first place! We're still getting bills from Bill Me Later for shipping...with interest!!! Nobody we've talked to since January seems to be able to help us out with that one. The last etoys rep I talked to finally made the quite brilliant realization that we were never credited for the original shipping cost! Like we didn't know that already! She was nice enough to have Bill Me Later credit that, but to get a credit and clear our bill of the remaining $20 in Bill Me Later interest charges we would have to contact both companies and talk to them on a 3 way call. Did you get that....I would have to sit on hold with one company for 30 minutes after I found their hidden customer service phone number and then have that customer service rep sit on the phone with me for 30 more minutes while we got connected to the customer service rep at the other company. Read that again...I'm sure it will sound even more absurd the second time.
Anyway...here we sit...still stuck between two bad companies that are asking me, the customer with the 4-year-old little boy who never got his birthday gift, to fix their mess. I'm never doing business with any of the companies involved ever EVER again. My next option is to contact the Better Business Bureau and my state attorney general's office.
We've literally spent hours and hours and hours on the phone over the course of 6 months. If you have that kind of time and patience then by all means order from eToys. If not, stay far far away.
