Think twice before ordering from eBags!!!! If you do, good luck.
On August 14th (on a Saturday) I tried ordering the Optima Wheeled Duffel (CT10-14590) bag in black from eBags. The site stated 10% off that weekend and free shipping. When I reviewed the order the price did not reflect the promotion (plus I had a $10 off coupon - code CT10-14590) and when I clicked back on their homepage the banner was gone - odd I thought. I called their 800 shortly after 7:00 pm EST - but they were closed - ???
On Monday I called to explain what happened and to place the order. They stated they could only offer 10% off or free shipping - not both (nor the $10 off with free shipping) and could not explain why the "Weekend Sale - Extra 10% off + Fee Shipping on orders of $25 or more" disappeared on Saturday shortly before 7 pm. Do weekends now end on Saturdays?
After requesting what was outlined and after checking with her supervisor, the representative was able to offer me the reduced price with a credit back after the order was placed for the shipping charge. Shortly thereafter I received an email confirming the order.
Several days later I went online to status my order using the confirmation email link and see when it was shipped. Odd I thought - my order number when entered into their website did not provide any details. I checked back several days later and still nothing. After another couple of days I called. The representative I spoke to shortly after 5:30 pm EST time indicated that the warehouse is closed and that she would "send a note over" to check and call me back tomorrow at the number I confirmed with her. Next day, no call.
After calling them back, I was told the order was canceled several days ago since the product is out of stock and will not be reordered. When I asked why I did not receive a phone call or another email, I was told "not sure".
* eBags did a bait and switch - I would have paid full price and shipping had I not checked when I originally went to place the order on the order confirmation screen
* eBags did not want to honor their offer when I called their 800 number
* eBags does not return customer calls
* eBags does not provide accurate order statuses
* eBags does not recontact customers when their has been a change in their order
I will be purchasing the several bags I need for a group trip to Europe somewhere else.
If you do order, good luck and make sure you pay the price you originally think you will pay and also track your order closely - if you can.
