I have been buying items from Things Remembered first the real life store and now the online store, for a long, long time. I love their products and their personalization. They are certainly not the only store which personalizes items, but I think they are one of the best.

What is this site and how does it work?

Things Remembered is an online site that sells items that you can personalize with a message or a monogram. You can do neither and buy one of their products and not personalize it as well. In the last 6 months I have bought 3 items. I saw all 3 in person and was very pleased with what I saw.

The site is very easy to navigate and to find the varied and wonderful selection of products. There are tabs at the top and links on the side that will bring you clearly to whatever you are looking for. There are also links on the first page, which I find to be pretty and although full of products not so chaotic that it is difficult to understand. You will also find link that will explain their personalization, you can click on to a gift advisor, or customer service.

Although I was looking for 2 graduation presents for twins who were going to be preschool teachers, I knew what I was looking for. I could have clicked on graduation and found 3 recommendation by Things Remembered gift experts or clicked on links to other popular gifts for graduation. For example I could have bought 2 Sterling Silver Treasured Heart Bracelets for $44.95 but instead I used the search option and typed in apple paperweights. The advanced search will help you narrow down your search by price, occasion and brand. I was rewarded with the perfect gift for my best friend’s twins- Apple Paperweights. These are glossy red marble apples with brass stems and leaves and book-shaped engraving plates. The price without engraving fro one was $29.95. To personalize you have options of one of theirs from a pull down menu or you can create your own which is what I did. This is not inexpensive. Engraving just one word will run you $5.00 but, in my opinion, these are items that can’t be replicated and hopefully the recipient will have it forever as a reminder of you. If you want to create your own but can’t think of what to write, don’t worry, because you can click on suggestions and get some wonderful ones. You can then select the type of font you want from a selection of 11. There is a maximum for this gift of 4 lines, which cost me $9.00. I reviewed Lillian Vernon Online Store. Their products are monogrammed for free. However, all you can do is monogram. You cannot personalize your item the way Things Rembembered allows you to do.

I wanted to get my mom something special because November is a hard month for her. I had no idea what to get her so I had a lot of fun at this site and ended up with a personalized 100% cotton blanket which is 46" x 67." I didn’t think $44.99 for this type of throw, which I then personalized, was exorbitant and I was thrilled to find it. I was able to pick from two colors for this throw as well.

There is no option for just a gift card which makes sense because most likely you are buying this as a gift and will either have it delivered to your own house or to the receiver and for $2.95 I was able to get box and card with my gifts. You will also find some items on sale that will be tempting to buy either for yourself or as an additional purchase.

Shipping and Returns:

Orders ship out within 72 business hours and standard delivery which is what I chose is delivered within 5 business days from the day it is shipped. You can get it faster but it will cost you more money. That is clearly spelled out on the site. I know my friend’s daughters got their gifts within that time frame because they called me and thanked me.

My mom tends to forget to thank me so I waited a couple of weeks and then asked her if she received the throw and she had and loved it. She told me she had received it a couple of days before I called which would have made that time frame accurate.

Shipping is within reason. For purchases between $25.01 and $75.00, which my recent ones were, I paid $6.25. There is a pop up window that makes knowing what you will be paying in shipping costs very clear.

Things Remembers guarantees satisfaction even if it has been personalized! This is also clearly explained on the site.

Master Card, Visa, Discover and American Express are the credit cards accepted.

Other information:

There is a discount for purchases over $200 and up. For example over $200 worth of items will get you a 10% discount on up to 25% for purchases over $3,000 so it is worth it to buy items with friends!

My final thoughts:

I have nothing negative to say about this site. The pages load instantly. It is easy to find your way around. The product selection is terrific and I think the prices are reasonable. Personalization adds up, but that is the nature of personalization not the site. I think their prices are the norm for the quality. The paperweights were beautiful as was the blanket. I love this site. It is a terrific place to buy both unusual gifts and traditional gifts for brides, grooms, loved ones, co-workers – really anyone celebrating something or just to say that you are thinking of them.
