I ordered a new "open box" iPod from TechForLess, with their site's "real time stock indicator" showing there were 20+ remaining. Soon after I received an apparently refurbished item instead, with a scratched case, wear on the scroll wheel, and dirt in the USB connector.
I called TechForLess to report that I had received an item with wear instead of the new item I had paid for. At this point there were only 8 new ones remaining. The customer service rep assured me someone would call me within 48 hours to swap out the item for a new one. I told her twice that they were quickly running out of the new ones, and she assured me "we will take care of you."
I let two days pass -- no email or phone call from TechForLess. With only two new items remaining in stock, I called again, learned I was number 60 on the list to be called back, and learned that they were actually out of new items.
I don't understand why they did not immediately pull or reserve the right item for me when I initially called to report I'd received the wrong item.
Key points:
* I paid for a new item and received a used item
* Odd system of putting you in a long line of unhappy customers to be called by someone else, instead of immediately solving your problem.
