I bought a video camera from Sears over the past holiday season. I waited fairly patiently for the information to post on UPS. Five days later it said "waiting for update". UPS said they indicated they WOULD ship but hadn't actually sent it out.
The day before Christmas, sears.com sent me to the store to get another camera. After I went to the store I learned that they were trying to get me to BUY a second camera. This infuriated both me and the department manager at Sears.
I waited till the day after Christmas when sears.com finally admitted the camera was "lost" somewhere between sears.com and UPS.
UPS put a trace on the camera and I went back to Sears and got another camera paying for it a second time but now assured I would not be held responsible for the first one.
A few days later the doorbell rang and I saw a UPS truck barrelling it down my street. What had they thrown on the front porch for any passer by to take had I not been here? The first camcorder which I SPECIFICALLY asked be delivered ONLY with signature confirmation. Sears.com never did that.
Back to the store, which is where Sears.com told me to take it to return it. You'd think that Sears would appreciate my honesty, wouldn't you? For my honesty I stood around while some idiot employee made four calls to a manager before the manager finally stomped into the department and refunded the purchase to my card.
The moral to this story is don't buy ANYTHING from Sears.com that you aren't willing to see lost. I found it amazing that they would allow a $279 camera to be to tossed on the front step in late December by UPS. Signature confirmation is cheap insurance for everybody.
