Orvis is one of those mail-order houses that have been in business forever. Their reputation is great, quality is high, and customer service couldn't be better.

You'll find basic simples styles for men and women. Don't expect big changes in their line from year to year. Clothes tend to be fairly conservative and casual, leaning toward preppie.

Prices are moderate, and very reasonable for the quality offered. Also, you can return anything any time for any reason, even if you've worn it several times. In effect, there's a limitless warranty on everything Orvis sells.

Besides clothing, Orvis carries gifts, home items, and lots of dog beds.
