Whew...where to start. Office Depot ran a special combo deal where you got a good rebate for buying a wireless mouse and a wireless router. Ordered it, went to checkout, charges looked good, pressed okay, confirmation screen added SIXTY dollars to my bill. Called customer service immediately, oops, thats a known problem with our website. Tee hee, We'll fix that.
Next day, got a call from a lady with the slowesssst southern drawl I've ever heard. Oops, there's a problem with our website, we can't ship these items, you'll have to pick them up at one of our retail stores. *sigh, okay.
Then I get a message confirming cancellation of my mouse purchase. Huh? I call up customer service for an explanation. I give my order number. No, no, sez customer service...your OTHER order number. Huh? evidently there are two order numbers assigned, one for customers and one internal. sheesh.
Finally, the cust service rep says "I dunno why they cancelled it, its probably discontinued" I said well I was responding to a mailing for this product you folks sent me not 3 days ago! I could hear her shrugging on the other end of the phone. grrrrr
Finally I go to the nearest retail center and pick up my router. "Oh you ordered this off the internet...we can't give you a receipt" Huh? How can I show proof of purchase for a rebate? uh...uhh....hmmmm. Finally they did a screen print of their inventory system showing that I had picked up my router and THAT is supposed to serve as my receipt.
A most unsatisfactory experience.
