I rush-ordered a laptop and a netbook needed within two days. Later I got a call from newegg which was interrupted; when I tried to call back to find out what the problem was, an automated voice asked me to call during business hours. I called the next day and was told that the order couldn't ship because the credit card billing address wasn't the same as the shipping address. I explained that the billing address was a post box number, and then had to explain further why it "didn't look like" a post box number (it was a forwarding address for the Foreign Service). Why would they ask for both billing and shipping address if they expected them to be identical? I was then asked to register the shipping address with the credit card company (never mind that they don't ship anything) which I did. I then called back and was told that the order would now be shipped. Five hours later, the order status still hadn't changed. I called again and was told that their servers were slow, but they would send me an e-mail confirming the shipment. I never got anything. When after another twelve hours the order status still hadn't changed, I canceled the order; the shipment would have arrived too late even if shipped overnight. The cancellation was approved within 15 seconds - so much for their "slow servers". I then went to J&H to take care of my needs there. I also received a customer survey request from newegg and wrote up this story. When I had finished, I was told that I had exceeded 500 characters - what a bummer. There had been no info anywhere regarding this limit, let alone a counter showing when the limit is being approached. I had to shorten the text four times until it finally fit. What a painful experience.
