I recently was looking for a new radio or iHome - or any device, in general - which would play my iPod on speakers. I looked at several iHomes, but I found a lot of them to be overpriced or not to have all the features I would have liked. After doing some research on Google and various consumer sights - including Epinions.com - I somehow stumbled upon Newegg.com, which is well known for its large selection of electronics, computers, games, and home and garden products.
I had never used Newegg.com, but I had read good things about it and figured that I would look around the site for something to satisfy my appetite. The website is set up rather simply and is user-friendly; even an Internet or online shopping novice could easily navigate Newegg. The website has easy to read text, pleasant colors, and doesn't have flashy advertisements or writing which make things confusing. The top of the webpage has tabs which allow you to choose from general categories, such as computer hardware, Apple, cell phones, and software. There are further subcategories, such as different types of PC's or camera accessories. If you know exactly what you want, you can use the handy dandy "Search" bar located up top.
I took about 20 minutes scrolling through a very large selection of iPod radios - there are many, many products out there. The search results are nicely displayed - they include thumbnail pictures, basic feature information, and pricing information in a list on the result page. Each page has 20 results, which I found to be a comfortable number.
I ran across a Boston Acoustics iPod radio, which was listed for $199 with free shipping. I clicked on the link, and I received a larger picture of the product, features, specifications, compatibility information, and further information regarding pricing. I could also choose to see additional pictures of the radio up close, and I could also access manufacturing information and finance deals.
I decided upon the Boston Acoustics radio after going through several other pages of results. I was sold based on the compatibility and other features which I found, and though the price was on the high side, I figured that it was a worthwhile investment.
I went ahead and added the radio to my shopping cart, and then proceeded to check out. While the special financing deals were touted throughout the payment process, I felt it was best to through the purchase on my American Express. Do note that Newegg accepts all major credit cards, and also has the Bill Me Later option - which puts off payments for 90 days before charging interest. Overall, I found the check out process to be easy and straightforward; I was not required to sign up for a "membership account" and was not asked to fill out any unnecessary information.
After submitting my payment, I immediately received an e-mail confirmation to my Gmail account. It stated the product that I purchased, the shipping address, and the final charge on my American Express. Several days later, I received my Boston Acoustics radio in perfect condition - without a scratch or even a dent. When my credit card bill came in the next month, I found that I was charged the correct amount.
Overall, I had a pleasant experience with Newegg. The website has an enormous selection of electronic products, and it is easy to use the search bar or even the main tabs and subcategory tabs. The website is very well organized and has a natural flow to it. I was especially happy with the free shipping, and I was glad to have my radio delivered to me within a week in perfect condition. To conclude, I would certainly recommend Newegg to anyone.
