With so many places online in which to purchase beauty products - what would draw me to
Lancôme?
Easy. The promise of free shipping and
20% off of your purchase. You don't have to say that to me twice. I stopped, dropped, and rolled on over to the
Lancôme Online Store. Incidentally - that code is NEWLANCOME - and is good for about another week.
Lancome Online - is much like the counter you'd visit at your very expensive department store (like Macy's, Nordstrom's, and Von Maur's).
So why is
Lancôme offering this wonderful discount? Because they've recently overhauled their entire, online customer experience, and I must say - it's a great improvement.
1) You can
personalize your experience - without even having to sign in! If you're looking to see what products are best for you, you can click on saw drop-down boxes and moments later -
Lancôme comes back with both skin care and make-up types/colors that would be appropriate for you.
Incidentally, this is how I found the four products that I went ahead and purchased.
Navigation wise - you can still go through the usual categories (i.e. Makeup, Skincare, Fragrance, etc...) to find what you need.
2) If you do happen to register, it will save your preferences (i.e. you skin type, your make-up color palate recommendations); allow you to be notified of specials and new products; and most importantly - with every purchase, you get the opportunity to receive a free sample. Not a bad thing!
3) You can look at all of your orders - outstanding and from the past. Comes in handy in case you experience lots of memory loss (like me).
4) You can purchase and redeem e-gift certificates.
5) You find out FIRST what
Lancôme is planning on discontinuing. And if it's discontinued - they'll even point you in the right direction of what new product you should try in its place.
6) They have a handful of make-up artists who offer up some decent beauty tips. You can save those to your My Lancôme page and refer back to it later.
So maybe you're wondering - does the online store offer the same number of products as what you can find at your department store counter?
Even more. Plus, they're the same price. Plus, you can skip the annoying mall traffic and have it shipped to your home for free.
If you end up taking the free shipping option, expect it to take about five business days to arrive to your house. That can be a bummer - especially for us need-it-now kind of chicks.
The other draw back - which I hope that they address - is that currently, they take the traditional forms of payment aka Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express. It sure would be great if they allowed Paypal so that I wouldn't have to tote my credit card around with me everytime I wanted to make a purchase.
