Ordered a Honeywell Thermostat online on the 5th ($33.12 with shipping) but what arrived on the 15th was a Honeywell desk fan.
I verified online that my order and the packing slip correctly showed the Honeywell Thermostat. I therefore called Homedepot to tell them they shipped the wrong item.
However despite it being a mistake on Homedepot's end I was told the corporate policy dictates they handle it as a return and that I must place a new order for the item. (which was not recommended since they fear making the same mistake again and that I would have been charged a second time)
They will send labels for the return of the item and then I must call for a pickup. Once received I must wait 14 days for a credit due to their mistake.
So essentially I am stuck with a $33.00 charge on my card for a month because of their mistake. Which will actually be $66 since now I have to go out and buy a thermostat.
This is their corporate policy!
What they should have done is just shipped the correct item at no charge and pickup the wrong item at the same time.
