My wife wanted to buy a new mixer because I had damaged the beaters on hers when I stuck a spatula in them while they were spinning. (What can I say, I am a man! ;-)
Her mixer is old, probably about 30 years old. It is a Scovill Hamilton Beach. It was given to her by her father. So it has sentimental value.
She went to Google and Goodmans came up on top. I checked here at Epinions and was not impressed with the comments. However, I did some more searching and Goodmans was the only one that had reviews on Epinions. So I went with them.
Website:
They not only give the specs on the replacement part and what it fits (specific models), but they also provide a good photo.
One negative issue is that I could not tell if they had the part in stock before ordering. Since, it is an old part and we could still use the old part, I ordered it anyway. Someone else may not care to find out after they order it.
Registering as a new customer:
It was a clear-cut process. They only asked for relevant information.
Prices:
The price I paid, $15.99, was gratifying considering that I bet this mixer has not been in production for 20 years. So I was expecting to see a high premium.
As a side note, their reasonable prices may be one reason they came first on a Google search. Not only do they have the part but they also have fair pricing.
They do give you several delivery options, including those that have tracking numbers. I chose the cheapest, which was $3.75 for regular USPS delivery.
Their shipping charges I consider very good. Many places jack up shipping and "handling."
Paying process:
This was an area that concerned me based on previous reviews. So I used one of the temporary numbers that Discover Card provides. However, they have corrected their lack of paperwork. I immediately got a screen I could print and also they sent an email with the same info.
Communications:
They did very well here. I got the order info immediately. They sent two more emails. One was a status email telling me if they had it in stock. The next was to tell me it was sent. Since I opted to use regular USPS service there was no tracking number. However, they make provision for it.
Delivery:
I got the part in about a week during the first week of December. It was exactly as it appeared in the photo.
Overall conclusion:
When I went back to see why there were negative reviews, I did note that most were old reviews from several years ago. It seems they have improved their paperwork and communication process. They also provided fast service.
I don't think I could ask for anything more. I ordered a $16 part with with less than $4 shipping and I got fast service with communication all the way. They get five stars.
