Customer service? What customer service? I have spent over 30 minutes calling their 800 number this morning to purchase a Canon G9 camera and no one but the receptionist answers the phone. After waiting ceaselessly on hold, even the receptionist is not answering now. This type of on-line marketing gives the box stores a good name!

Extremely Un-satisfied! I ordered my camera on 12/14. I received an email letting me know there was a problem with the shipping address, which I quickly resolved. The camera was to ship in 2-3 business days. O0 12/20 I had to call them to find out what the delay was (X-mas gift??) and was told that they were out of stock, but a truck was coming in today. I gave it another day, and still no confirmation that it had been shipped. X-mas did not happen. I then received an email after the new year that it was indefinitely out of stock, (what happened to that truck?) and my credit card would be refunded. On January 12th, I had to call them to ask about my refund, and they told me it had been issued, I told them the charge was still there, they looked again, and said I was right, they would issue me a credit, in 2-3 business days. A month later and I might just get a refund on my credit card for a camera that was never delivered for Christmas!
I would not recommend this sight, and I will never shop here again! |

Sony blue ray player arrived without the upc on side of box. it was cut out at butterfly. trying to get help is impossible. I live local to butterfly and they would not allow me to bring it back.It had to be shipped back.
salesman was pleasent at time of sale but turned into an ogre when I called him[Paul at ex 255]for help since customer service doesn't answer.I told him the problem but he just abruptly put me back on hold with the never answering customer service. loks like i will not get my 5 dvd rebate because of not having the UPc. Shop somewhere else. There are plenty of good service stores. Thanks For reading |

I bought a Onkyo TX-SR805 receiver and within a few months had to have it repaired. To my surprise Onkyo would not repair it since Butterfly Photo is NOT an authorized seller for them. I did get talked into an extended warranty. I did buy an extended warranty from them issued by Repair Tech. after 4 months I am still waiting for my receiver to be repaired. What I thought was a small savings has turned into a terrible experience and I would never buy from them again.

Bought a TV, arrived with a missing part (cover) and with extra battery in the remote. Also everything other the screen is in a torn bag. Called back and the initial sales rep never respond to emails/phone calls any more. Another sales rep tries to ship me an extra cover. Got through numerous trouble to return the TV at my own cost.

I am always leary about on line electronics buys (I think the worst is broadway photo and why they have not been shut down is a mystery..)

I am almost surprised at how easy it was to order a 50" plasma from Butterfly Photo. They had the best price, followed up promptly with shipping instructions (a customer service rep named Justin was very friendly and didn't try to oversell the add-on items or warranties), and delivery date was as promised. Butterfly Photo is a regular grey market schemer. I purchased a Nikon camera that, according to the description on the website, came with a full US warranty. The camera was shipped promptly, but the box appears to have been opened and was a missing the warranty card (!), the manual is a photocopy of the original, and the writing on the box that is in Chinese (Japanese?). Nikon USA product registration website rejected the serial number as invalid.
More than 10 phone calls and numerous emails were completely ignored. It is impossible to reach a live person. This is now under further investigation. I suspect that the positive ranking it has on the web is a result of employees, friends and families posting bogus positive purchase equipment. Stay away from Butterfly Photo. |

Very pleased and highly recommend based on my experience. -Purchased a 46 inch Sharp LCD. Ordered online on Saturday and received the product the following Wednesday in excellent condition. Received an email to call to confirm order but no pressure to purchase accessories or warranty although after researching warranties I called back and did purchase a 5 year warranty. The price was very for the Warranty was very competitive. For purchasing a warranty they upgraded me from regular ground shipment to 2nd day Fedex air. I am very happy with the whole experience and will definitely put them on my list of companies I would highly recommend and purchase from again.

Buyer Beware! I ordered a camera on Monday and was told it was IN STOCK and should ship on Tuesday. Wednesday morning I got a phone call asking to verify the address. I was then told the camera would ship by the end of the day and I'd get an email of such. Didn't happen. Called on Thursday morning and was told it should ship on Friday or Monday. Huh? Now I'm getting suspicious. So I told the rep I made it clear I needed the camera by Friday. She then said, "oh, I see here that it isn't in stock." Huh? I explained the history and she had no explanation. I cancelled the order and went to H1Photo.com (Thursday afternoon). Camera was in stock and the sales rep said it should go out the same day. It did. And is actually being delivered today! I'm in CT and H1Photo is in PA. I will NEVER buy from Butterfly Photo again!

I ordered a Sony HDR-HC7 camera and two Sony extra batteries. The camera box had obviously been opened and the battery that comes with the camera was missing. The extra batteries were not Sony but some brand I've never heard of.
When I called my sales rep I was transferred to customer service where I remained on hold for too long. Then I told the customer service person that I would be returning the items and he told me there would be a 10% restocking fee. I told him there would not. They then relented. I have yet to see whether they refund my money to my credit card. But if they don't I will have my credit card company take care of it. |

Asked for information after waiting 2 weeks. Was told it was back-ordered but it now cost more $. A few days later they notified me that they had cancelled my order because item was unavailable. I was called by a customer support person named Angelo. I felt that his call was a thinly veiled attempt at getting me to purchase more items....it didn't feel like a helpful call at all. Then after upgrading the shipment to overnight because as I stressed to him the importance of everything arriving by a certain date, an essential item was not included in the order, making the camera worthless to me! No, I don't have a very good opinion of this store.

Ordered digital camera on line. Received a phone call from rep encouraging me to upgrade memory card. Ordered memory card and was to receive additional "free" accessories. When box arrived memory card and free accessories were not in box. Customer service rep told me items were scanned as being in box. Called salesman, was transferred to customer service rep while I was still talking. Wrote and faxed company and President with no response. Got weight of box from delivery company thinking box wold have weighed more if items were in box and sent company that information. Company never responded and charges were never reversed for cost of memory card.

I should have checked the reviews of Butterfly Photo.com online before I bought my camera. Customer service was disorganzined, incredibly rude, tried to push other products, and provided inaccurate information. In fact, after I called to check on my order (and was transferred to several employees taking over 20 minutes), the shipping guy told me that he was cancelling my order because 'it isn't worth the hassle.' I noticed that the price of the camera I ordered had just been bumped up over $40, so I guess my order wasn't worth the price to them.... and yet they STILL charged my credit card! My bank disputed the charge and I hope I get my money back. Overall, the lower prices they advertise are simply not worth the annoyance, stress, and lost money.

Very poor customer service. They contacted me after my item should have shipped to tell me there was a delay (of unspecified length). I asked about the time line, and they told me the shipping would be delayed by 6-7 business days. I asked that they overnight the item at their expense, as I had ordered it expecting a much more timely delivery. No response. When I followed up, they told me they had cancelled my order. I don't know if they were ever going to notify me.

Beware. Bought a high-end Pioneer Elite HDTV from Butterfly photo, and TWICE it was delivered severely damaged. They were not timely or helpful in replacing the damaged sets, and never returned calls when they said they would. Each time, I was told I "would be contacted from the Claims Department within 24-48 hours." Well both times, the "Claims Department" did not contact me even after a week. This seems to be their pattern in hopes customers will just give up. I have not been reimbursed for the second damaged TV delivered, and they are still giving me the run-a-round.

I ordered the Sharp LC-46D92U LCD TV from Butterfly. I had ordered the same TV from other NY electronics webstores and encountered the same scam twice in a row. Stay away from FotoConnection.com. I called to order and specifically asked for the US model TV. Well they will not ship it out and when you call they say you ordered the European model which is not available but the US model is in stock for more $$. Complete BS. Butterfly took my order and called for some mild upselling of cords and such but backed off without any problem when I declined. The TV shipped out the next day with 2-day delivery through Fedex even though I only paid for ground shipping 7-10 days. TV arrived on time, new in box, and works fine.

I ordered a 52" LCD Sony TV. Then, later that same evening, I ordered a Media cabinet for the TV, was quoted $149 for shipping charge. I placed the order. Both orders were paid for with my credit card, and charged the next business day. A week goes by, I receive the TV (in a beat up box, but it's all good.)
When I inquire about the cabinet on the other order, I am told it's coming from a different place, and will take longer. After another weeks wait, I am told it is on back order, and can cancel if I want. So I do. It took 3 e-mails to get the refund for the item....however, I am still trying to get the $149 shipping charge refunded as well. I have called, I have e-mailed, I am fed up. SAVE YOURSELF A HUGE HEADACHE....DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE. |

Wow! I am a dummy. I ordered a Fuji F31fd from Butterfly and then called to "verify" the order. I ended up buying a battery that I didn't want for $39. The sweetener the guy gave me was overnight shipping. After I hung up, I searched to find the same battery for more than $15, but most places had it for $12. Now I will also need to buy a charger.
The absolute worst part is that I had read reviews of Butterfly Photo that told the exact same kind of story. I just fell into it myself when "Charlie" told me how bad the included Fuji battery would be, and that the replacement would last "3 hours" or 3X as long. The advice from many people was just to listen to the spiel that "Charlie" gives and then politely say no. Do it. You'll feel so much better. Believe me. |
